Frequently Asked Questions

Will remapping the ECU or the TCU void my warranty?

It depends on the car, on the ECU and on the manufacturer.
Generally, every modification to the ECU or TCU will void the warranty on the powertrain. However, the strategy used to detect the tuning by the manufacturer depends on ECU model and ECU production date. In some cases, it is possible to fully revert the ECU to its stock form, deleting any trace of the tune, in other cases the tuning will be always detectable in the future even if the ECU is flashed stock.
In any case, a tune will not void the warranty on any part of the car which has not need directly modified, as the manufacturer should prove that the part that you modified directly caused the failure.

Yes. While the ECU can be reverted to stock in any moment, there is no way to delete the traces of a previous tuning. The BMW diagnosis will always be able to detect it.

As of today, we had not even a single case of voided warranty because of a tuning box.
A tuning box will not modify the stock software in any case, and can always be removed without leaving any trace, so it is virtually impossible to detect.

No. Unless the ecu is unlocked by FEMTO, on locked ECUs we can just use OEM software. This means that there is no way of ‘tuning’ it in the literal sense, but at the same time can safely enable OEM features already developed by BMW, such as OPF monitoring deactivation, Pops&Bangs activation, gearbox farts etc.
Since these features are already enabled in certain original BMW software, there is no risk to have the warranty voided, as the software are 100% OEM and digitally signed by the manufacturer.

Yes. It is always possible to completely revert the car back to stock in any moment. Any hardware part can be removed, and any software can be reverted to stock.

Yes, it is. What is not legal is to use the car on a public road if the parts or the software installed do not have an approval. Technically, every tuned car could have the modifications approved by an authority like TUV. However, RAARO Performance cannot offer any support in this procedure, and obtaining any approval, certification or whatever document is needed to legally use the car on a public road is completely upon the customer.

We offer a warranty on the parts directly sold and installed by us, such as (but not limited to) exhaust parts, intercoolers, intakes, turbochargers. In this case, we warranty both the parts and the labour directly.
A part installed by us but not sold by us or sold by us but not installed by us is only covered by the manufactured warranty, if there is any. Labour is not covered in any case.
The warranty is explicitly excluded in any case on any engine, transmission, or powertrain part.
In general, the warranty must be considered excluded for any other situation not expressly listed.

Having the car updated by the dealer, or even remotely (Remote Software Upgrades, OTA upgrades etc), will likely delete all the software modifications.
Having a different software means that the everything must be done again from scratch.
We offer a 75% price reduction if the software is updated in the first three months after the tune, a 50% reduction if it is updated in the first year, and a 30% reduction if it is updated after the first year. After two years, the regular price will apply.

Simply said, we offer a professional approach to sport cars tuning.
Every singles setup is developed, tested and validated on multiple cars, in multiple scenario, both on the dyno and on the road.
Behind a calibration there are countless hours studying the files, countless dyno runs, countless logs analysis and countless and Liters of fuel.
We can offer custom advanced features on pretty much any gasoline MED17, MG1, Simos18/19 ecu.

Check our services page for all the details!

In most cases, we can ship the parts and provide remote software assistance.
However, sometimes it is just not possible. For most advanced projects we need to have the car here in the workshop.
Please notice, we do not have any other branch in Italy, the only workshop is in Rome (Monterotondo).
Send us a request trough the contact module for more informations.

Probably yes.
But running a workshop has a cost. Installing and using a dyno has a big cost. Developing advanced features has an even bigger cost. Offering really customised software takes time.
Doing multiple dyno runs, analysing logs and doing multiple file revisions on each car until the result is exactly what we expected has a different cost than just doing a couple of dyno runs just to see what power it makes.
We are sorry if we didn’t meet your price expectation, but we are never going to lower the quality of our services just to compete in the price war.
Does this mean we are foolproof or we are the best in the world? Absolutely not.
However, when you have a problem, a professional approach is the only way to get out of it.
